I answer this when people ask what I do (I choose to say what I am rather than what I do): I am a filmmaker, a writer, a performance artist, an installation artist, an actor, a storyteller, a listener and provocateur.
I fly by the seat of my pants, often being ill-prepared for a situation on purpose in order to see what comes of it. I am fueled by an epiphany realized in the middle of the night or the excitement of throwing myself to the sharks.
This is how I work. I improvise.
im•pro•vise \ˈim-prə-ˌvīz\"/>
This is the most honest, exhilarating and authentic way for me to create.
But there’s more:
I am curious.
I am insatiable.
I dislike perfect.
I think in stories.
I am easily swayed.
I like talking about sex.
I’m interested in taxonomies.
I like broken people and things.
I am uncomfortable in my own skin.
I think the best stuff is at the fringe.
I am a woman but still call myself a chick.
I am interested by the practice of labeling.
I am a very good bad girl and a very bad good girl.
I want to name something that has yet to be named.
